Old Down Manor was the perfect setting for Caroline and Rob’s Christmas wedding. It’s beautiful on the outside but if the weather turns there’s plenty of space and decoration for gorgeous wedding photography.
Rob and Caroline have been together for 6 years. Rob’s proposal was truly romantic. They were due to go travelling around South America and he decided that he should get down on one knee before they went (in case she said no). So after squaring it with her father he waited for the perfect moment – A Friday night, just after a curry in front of the TV. What girl could refuse?
Coming from Bristol, Caroline used to regularly visit Old Down Manor when she was young to see the animals and push her sister into the mud so it made absolute sense to hold their wedding there. Wedding Photographers love a winter wedding (at least I do) The light is gorgeous and the sun seems to set for hours. With a wedding venue like Old Down Manor with has such beautiful gardens – even in the winter – we managed to get out and take some amazing portraits. Caroline changed from her Manolo Blahniks into Ugg boots for the outdoor shots. Clearly mud doesn’t agree with wedding shoes.
Their theme was a Disney wedding with cold winter colours. Pale blues, pinks and silver. The guys dressed in grey silk tails with Caroline, inspired by Kate Middleton, choosing an elegant fitted Mori Lee dress with lace sleeves.
Later in the evening Father Christmas made an appearance before a choir lead the guests in singing Christmas carols. Rob and Caroline even had a duet “…but thankfully the choir kept on singing with us, drowning out our less-than-choir-standard voices.”
The party was epic and we slipped away into the night before our carriage turned into a pumpkin.
